Happy Birthday

Last month for my birthday, my mother gave me a $25 iTunes gift card. I finally decided to use it the other day.

Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

I've been a fan of BoH for a while so of course I was excited when I heard they had another album coming out. I hadn't heard much from it until I listened to the 30 second previews on iTunes. After that I was a little skeptical. It's similar to the first two albums, but something is different about it, but it was on sale for only $7.99 so I couldn't pass it up. After giving a few listens I've definitely warmed up to it and it'll be going into heavy rotation.

The Guggenheim Grotto -...Waltzing Alone
The Guggenheim Grotto is a band from Ireland I discovered after iTunes released Philosophia as one of their free singles a long time ago. I had trouble finding this album but did find their second album Happy the Man and fell in love even more. They've got a really interesting folk/rock sound with a little country/blues tinge, great lyrics, great harmonies, and you can really tell they're really passionate about their music. This is a little different and you can definitely see the evolution between Waltzing Alone and Happy the Man, but this is great in it's own respect. Both are a ton of fun to sing along to. They just released a third album in June that I haven't heard yet.

She & Him - Volume 2

I absolutely LOVE Zooey Deschanel and when my buddy Mike received Volume 1 as a gift our freshmen year of college I had to have a copy. I loved Volume 1 but when the video for In the Sun was released, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I heard Thieves on the radio just the other day and it sounded more like the She & Him I was used to so I decided I would give Volume 2 a go. I don't like it as much as the first album (not yet at least), but I do enjoy it and I'm sure the more I listen to it, the more it'll grow on me

Zebra by Beach House - Teen Dream

Zebra is the only track I purchased from this album. I haven't listened to anything else on it, but this was on the playlist at work not too long ago and when I was at home, I listened to it constantly. Those singing kids from New York covered it, too.
